China Super Buffet offers a wide range of Chinese cuisine in a buffet-style setting. The restaurant features an extensive menu with a variety of dishes including traditional Chinese items, and American options.

The team interviewed James Lo, the owner of China Super Buffet, to understand his vision, goals, and requirements. This step was crucial in gathering insights that would guide the redesign process.

The team also interviewed the customers to gain insight into the needs of the target audience. 10 user interviews were conducted at China Super Buffet at various times throughout the week. From these interviews, we were able to compile user’s responses into three personas who would make use of the website. Through these responses, we produced a list of potential features for the site. These personas are displayed below.

Din Tai Fung features a modern and visually appealing design with a user-friendly layout. High-quality images, clean lines, and a cohesive color scheme makes the website more engaging. It offers an intuitive navigation, making it easy for visitors to find information. In addition to this, Din Tai Fung has a well-organized menu section and a clear structure that improves overall user experience. Lastly, the website reflects a strong brand identity and conveys professionalism, building both trust and credibility.

Using the results derived from our user and competitor research, China Super Buffet's brand was completely revamped and this is displayed below.

Overall, this project has been really helpful in terms of sharpening my design research skills and managing my clients. Reaching out to a client, setting up meetings with them, interviewing customers, etc., really allowed me to cater to their needs, wants, goals, and objectives, and design the website accordingly. I also believe that the critique sessions were super important and allowed us to iterate and refine our prototypes further, minimizing any errors.
